The amount of good things I could tell you about John Zimmer and his work are endless. He’s trustworthy, honest, professional and he knows his stuff. Most of all he’s a solid guy who will do the right thing. Our experience in the home buying process was truly made easier and less stressful because of him. Many people can sell you a home or sell your home but not many people can do it with his skill. We worked with 3 or 4 other realtors before finding John and our experience with John was 1000 times better. I don’t believe we would have gotten our dream home if it weren’t for him and his team. John Zimmer did a phenomenal job helping us sell our home. He is extremely proactive and knowledgeable, held our hands through every step, and most importantly, got our home sold quickly and at the number we were hoping for. While you would expect the home selling process to be stressful, it wasn't with him. John's expertise and warm personality actually made the whole experience pleasant. John did an outstanding job in helping us find a home. Even though we were first time home buyers, we didn't experience any stress during the process;  John's expertise and excellent customer service is a big reason for that. 

In addition to being an awesome agent, John also connected us with a great mortgage lender and coordinated with the lender throughout the process to ensure on-time closure of the deal.

Our experience with John very much mirrors other peoples published experiences which precede this review.  We had the same excellent experience regarding his work ethic, his great focus & candor and his ability to bring in top quality professionals onto our job site.  But rather than repeat what has already been written by others, we want to bring into focus some other qualities that we experienced that proved so critical to our very successful sale.

First, John is a really bright guy!   John has a great ability to keep thinking dynamically in a changing real estate market.  He has a great eye for detail, seemingly nothing got past him.  We found ourselves repeatedly soliciting his advice, as what he presented us with proved very well placed in logic, time after time.  His advice proved well founded, and we repeatedly found ourselves doing well by giving his opinions a good deal of credence.

Also, John is a most gifted listener.  He actively observes and listens.  He critically listened to our goals, plans and objectives and perhaps even more importantly, he actively listened to the potential buyers who came to visit our property that we were selling.  From that, he enabled us to tailor our presentation to future visitors in a manner which proved so important and successful. NO ONE BETTER!!!
My husband made the decision to sell our home in early 2022. It had really nice bones but needed some paint and landscaping.  We thought it would take about 2 weeks to clear out the extra stuff and do all the updates. Due to our schedule and contractor scheduling it actually was more like 6 weeks. 

I met John through my business. He and his wife would come into my store to buy house warming gifts for his clients and over the years we built a friendly rapport. 

We interviewed 3 agents to list our coastal beach house. We had plenty to choose from.   We took one referral of a busy agent from a contractor, we had one from an agent team in an inland city about 45 minutes away, and John.  

Why we chose John Zimmer? 
1) We liked that he was fairly new as a Real Estate Agent but had measurable success.  When I asked him how many transactions he has had last year it was over 14. Thats fantastic!!! There are a ton of agents and they list or sell every once in a while - even a blind squirrel can find a nut sometimes. However, John seems like he is "in it to win it."  This has always been my attitude...we like "go-getters!" - especially when they represent us.  
2) He was local. He had connections to the coast and understood the beach lifestyle, beach culture and took the time to learn all the specifics that make our community unique. 
3) This actually may be number one...He seemed to be truthful, honest and have integrity. All very important when undertaking one of the biggest financial decisions of a lifetime. 

John was fantastic to work with. He was literally there every step of the way. During the "get ready phase" he helped us find contractors to update our home that were reasonably priced, prompt and reputable.  We painted, changed out faulty windows, refreshed the landscape, cleaned a lot, removed over 1/2 of our stuff, had the floors cleaned, the tub resurfaced...whew! He even rolled up his sleeves and helped us do some of the work and move some items...thats called "going the extra mile!" 

Of course its not required, but imo, professional photos and staging are a must. I've seen so many listings with bad photos of dirty/dated of houses... its shocking and hard to understand. Anyway, I digress...

During the list phase, he gave us his direction on pricing but also respected our input. I think if we could have done anything different, it would have been to announce a coming soon two days prior to open house. The house went on the MLS on Thursday night. It happened to be earth day weekend when many people are out doing things with family so our best showing day was Sunday. However, we believe that all things happen for a reason. We did get and accept a very nice offer from a sweet couple who is going to be raising a family in the house. They will be good neighbors to our neighborhood friends and a good fit for the community. 

During the close the sale and walk through phase, John has been around to answer questions and make sure everything is on track. 

Any question or issue that arose throughout the process was taken care of immediately. John is very knowledgeable, personable and an absolute pleasure to work with. There have been many I'm on the edge of a cliff moments, that John has talked me down from. He's an awesome communicator and has a way of keeping things on track and his clients focused on the bigger picture. 

I honestly believe that when listing or buying your home you need to step outside of your family and friends, if needed, and hire the right advocate to represent your interests.  John's knowledge of the Real Estate market, integrity, friendliness and attention to detail is why he has measurable success. I highly recommend John Zimmer, my listing agent, who sold my La Costa primary residence for 25% over asking price!  We had about 200 people view my home during the 3 days of Open House, 12 people make offers, and several offers were about 25% over asking price.

I interviewed twelve of the top listing agents in my area and they were all impressive.  However, John was the only one who does not bring his own buyers to the table if he is a listing agent because it creates a conflict of interest due to the potential to earn a double commision.  Additionally, he was the only agent who honored my request to fix up my house and yard prior to selling, and he had excellent contractors who could schedule all the work immediately.  The other agents I interviewed preferred to put my home on the market immediately "As-Is", which is much easier for them, but which results in a much lower selling price for me.  John helped me choose which improvements to make, as I could not afford to do them all.

To start, he quickly helped me declutter my home and pack all my belongings for storage.  He called and came by the house almost every day to oversee the entire process.  He also scheduled the inspector, termite inspector, roofer, acoustic ceiling remover, interior painter, landscaper, fence repairman, carpet cleaner, window washer, termite tenter, professional photographer, MLS listing go-live date, and Open House dates.  I was amazed that the work could all be done within 3 weeks (including installation of a new roof), that the house could sell in 3 days, and that escrow could be 3 weeks long.  It was a crazy pace but it all got done on time!

John's contractors worked in teams to get their jobs done quickly.  I was impressed with their high quality workmanship and how much it beautified my home.  When it was all done, and ready for Open House, I almost decided not to sell because my home looked so good.

John knew just when the interest rates were going to increase and when the optimum weekend would be to sell.  He gently pushed me along every day to keep me on schedule.  I cannot thank him enough for helping me to prepare my home for new Buyers, and for making it a positive experience.  He has superior communication skills, high moral standards, a very strong work ethic, great organizational skills, and excellent market knowledge.  He is very gracious and a class act. When it came time to sell the family home in Del Mar, CA, we interviewed 8 real estate professionals. John Zimmer was the only agent that focused on understanding our needs and objectives. He then provided us with a marketing plan and timeline which we felt met our goals and would get us the best value for our property. John Zimmer helped us to prepare the property for sale, arranged for professional photos and video, and listed the property as quickly as he said he would. The property sold for more than we had anticipated (several hundred thousand dollars over list price) in less than a week. John was clearly acting in our best interest. He stated ahead of time that he would only represent us and not us and a buyer. And then he held to that when the buyer asked him to represent them in the sale, referring them to another agent.
Most of the other agents we had met with seemed to be interested in selling the property to their builder "buddy"; then after the home was remodeled, they would sell it again. The focus seemed to be on securing multiple commissions on the property and not in getting us the best value for our family home.

John is great. He's a total pro, and a pleasure to work with. He made the process of buying my house much easier and happier than it might have been, especially in this market. I felt comfortable to ask him anything I needed about the houses I viewed and the process, since I'm a first-time CA home buyer. John helped us find and close the deal on our first  home in the most insane market! John listened to our wants and needs throughout the entire process. He showed us neighborhoods we didn’t even know existed. We loved all of them! John’s extensive experience in buying, selling and remodeling is a huge asset when looking at homes. We really could see the potential (or lack of) in each home and also have an idea of possible expectations on both sides of the transaction. We were able to put offers on the table that we were comfortable with. We never once felt pressured. John was adamant about only putting an offer in if we were comfortable and the house felt right for us. When John sent us the listing of our home, I clicked the ‘interested’ box on his website and it felt like minutes later he was calling me with details on the sellers side. We got in for a viewing and made an offer the next day. John and his team were so on top of getting us the documents, answering questions, we felt like we never had to wait on anyone. I highly suggest using John as an agent and using his contacts (good people know good people). When I had fears about the size of the house, the maintenance, or any potential work that may need to be done John able to calm those fears with facts, examples and his experience.
